Case Outcome Predictor guide

Generate probability estimates and risk analysis for motions before specific California judges.

Updated March 25, 2026AI Features

The Case Outcome Predictor uses machine learning trained on thousands of California superior court rulings to estimate the probability of specific outcomes before specific judges. It is a research tool to help assess risk and prioritize arguments.

To use the predictor, navigate to a judge profile and click Run Prediction in the AI Tools panel. Select the motion type from the dropdown and provide optional context about your case theory and key facts.

The predictor returns a probability estimate along with a confidence band indicating how much data the model has for this judge and motion type. Judges with high hearing volumes will have narrower confidence bands; judges with limited public ruling history will have wider ones.

Below the estimate, the predictor shows Key Factors: the specific elements of your case description that most influenced the prediction. It also shows Risk Flags: arguments that have correlated with negative outcomes before this judge.

The predictor is based on historical patterns and cannot account for new judges or unique fact patterns. Use it to inform strategy, not to make final decisions. Outcome predictions are not legal advice. Pro users receive 5 predictions per month. Firm and Enterprise plans include unlimited predictions.
